Brr... It's Cold Outside!

It's that time of year again! The time when we all question why on Earth we live here. Fortunately, it's not as cold this year as it was last year. It's around -35 or so, but it got down to -40 yesterday, and it's even colder at night. Here are couple of the telltale signs of winter at the Overacker house...
Everyone gets bundled up in Winter clothes. Unfortunately, there are only so many layers one can don before you can't put your arms down at your sides. Example: Cloe.

Britney Spears at -40.

I'm not sure if the Ake's remember this, but when we went up to Logan to visit them when we were still dating ('05, I think) someone had given Kiana a Britney Spears Barbie doll (red leather outfit and all). Kiana was only 1 1/2. Callie was just going to throw it away, but let Ben have it so he could take her apart (he wanted to see how the knees worked.) We stuck the head on the antennae of my Jeep, and she has been there ever since. As you can see, she has seen better days.

Christmas

Sorry I haven't posted any new pictures lately... been so busy trying to figure out how to take care of two kids at the same time...
We had a fun Christmas. Cloe understood what it was much better than she did last year. She had a fun time opening presents, but got bored after a little while and just wanted to play with the presents that she had already opened. We spent Christmas day with our cousins the Werners. It was fun to just hang out in our pajamas all day. It was a good day and we managed to away with only two flesh-wounds... I kid you not. Both Ben and Cloe injured themselves Christmas day. We took our dogs over to the Werners so that we could hook the sled up to them and they could pull everyone through the streets (the streets always have snow/ice in the winter.) Cloe fell off onto her face. Her lip was really swollen and she scraped it pretty badly, but it's nearly better now. I don't blame Cloe for getting hurt, she's just a kid, but Ben on the other hand, should have known better than to keep a switch-blade in his pocket... He was putting the dogs back outside after we got back from the Werners and leaned over and stabbed himself with the knife. Luckily, it's pretty cold outside and he was wearing several layers and only just punctured his stomach, what a weenie...
All in all it was a pretty good day. I will keep posting more pictures of Lucy too, I promise.
Our Lucy; or as I call her Lucy Goosey and Cloe calls her Oopsie Poopsie (I have no idea where she came up with that one.)
Cloe was so excited about all of the candy canes Santa brought her (she calls them candy cans)
She is making a funny face, but her lip is pretty swollen
We couldn't figure out how to keep an ice pack on her face, so we gave her a frozen go-gurt. It worked pretty well.

Here are the Wild Woolly Werners (as Ben calls them). Ian, Finnigan, Lincoln and Alyssa. (Sorry Alyssa for the weird picture of you... I didn't mean to take you by surprise...)

Lucy's Blessing

Today was Lucy's blessing and she wore a dress that was made by my friend in our ward and I think it turned out so great! I also got to finally plaster (with flour and water) a bow into my daughter's hair, I love it!

I am so grateful for the blessing Ben gave to her. It was beautiful and a wonderfully spiritual moment. I am so happy to be blessed with another little girl and am grateful to have her as part of our family.

Two Weeks Old

Lucy is two weeks old today and we're all adjusting really well. Here are some pictures of her I took today. She's still pretty shrimpy, but at least her eyes are open in these ones.

More Lucy Pictures

Due to popular demand, here are some more pictures of Lucy!!

Chilling on the couch watching t.v. together

Haha! She looks just like Ben! Everyone in my family is so grumpy!

Lucy Mae

Well, Lucy was finally born on Friday, November 20th at 2:54 pm. I didn't get into the hospital to be induced until Thursady afternoon and my labor started that evening. All in all, it was about 18 hours from start to finish. It all went so well. Lucy was 7lbs 14oz and 21 1/2 in long. So small compared to Cloe!! It was such a wonderful experience and we are so happy to have our little Lucy with us. We'll keep posting pics when we can.
Cloe called it my "Dumpty Egg" belly (as in Humpty Dumpty)
My beautiful baby girl.
Another girl and still the spitting image of her Daddy!!
The new and improved Overacker Family. Cloe is still warming up to Lucy, I'm sure they'll be best friends in no time.

Overdue Again!!

Well, my body is no good at having babies.... I can get pregnant, have virtually no problems during my pregnancies, but when its time for the baby to come out, it just doesn't happen. Oh well, I suppose if I'm bad at any part of the whole baby process, this is the best part to be bad at.
I had a dr appointment this morning that went pretty well. He stripped my membranes at my last appointment, which didn't do anything (obviously) and did it again this morning. I had pretty consistent contractions all weekend (about 5 min apart for several hours) but they weren't getting more intense. At my appointment, my doctor said that Lucy has definitely dropped more (I could have told him that...) and I am more effaced and a bit more dialated. I told him that I am ready to have the baby as soon as he is willing to induce me..... so..... we scheduled my induction for Thursday!! I'm so glad!! I have been having an extremely difficult last couple of weeks, but it's so nice to have the date set so I know what to expect. I suppose it's possible to go into labor before then, but I'm not going to worry about that right now.
I'm sorry about not posting pics, I couldn't find my camera... pregnancy mushy brain I suppose. But Ben found it, so I'll make sure to get caught up before I have the baby.
Thanks for all of your love and prayers. We will keep you posted!
